spiral in black and pinkDripping Garbage

I found this story about communications several years ago, and I think of it when I realize I'm letting somebody drip all over me:

http://www.iamnext.com/people/garbage.html

I have learned to interrupt the flow of used vegetables and old coffee grounds sometimes, but I'm not popular for doing it. Too bad. I spend enough time talking to myself about negative emotions; I don't need anybody else to come along and foist theirs upon me.

If I sense that a conversation is useful to me and or the other person, something that we can benefit from, it's different. That's the difference between telling somebody that you had a leaky bag of garbage that you had to deal with, or need to learn to deal with, and allowing it to slowly and continuously seep out onto my nice hardwood floors.

I suppose this is a sort of public commitment to being more responsible about what I allow people to do around me.

Excuse me while I go get my Swiffer.

Bright Blessings,
Spiral Crone
